The Copper Kettle
Kettles aren't made out of copper these days: plastic is much more efficient, and carries a much lesser risk of copper poisoning. The Copper Kettle is just as much of a dinosaur as its namesake. Everyone's brought here by their grandparents, who'll be drawn in by the 1940s atmosphere and insipid tea and cake. These remind them of the war - except that sugar - cake - and banana - cake - are now readily available. For those of us that don't remember the days of music halls and air-raid shelters, there's literally no reason to come here rather than, say, go round the corner to Indigo.
