It may not be cool to respect America, but there's no doubt about it, they did a good job of
making the 1950s iconic. We doubt even our grans
remember what Britain was like in the fifties, but we can all
picture hotdogs, the Chevrolets and the picket fences of America's golden years. Partly because we've developed an obsession with Mad Men.

But oh! Look! That classic of fifties entertainment,
the Drive-In, has come to London! And mighty fine it was too. The world's first urban drive-in was brought about by Starlite, with more than a little help from Volvo, who supplied the shiny cars which we proceeded to clamber over and
drop popcorn in for the duration of the evening.
While we weren't trashing cars, we spent the evening dancing to rock 'n' roll, sipping cocktails and
eating mini mac 'n' cheese courtesy of a fifties-styled Brickhouse. Gee whizz, it was marvellous.

The visitors that followed us were treated to the yank-made classics
Grease and Dirty Dancing, making for a very special night out, whether it be full of silliness with the girls or cheesy romance with the boy. At £25 a ticket, the outing wasn't a cheap one, but it's
quite the one-off experience, so if you can catch it on the planned tour of the UK, it will be worth your hard earned dollars.
